Default "Flo Dough"

"Flo Dough"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is from Prevention Magazine (the Mailbag section in the Jan 2002 issue) but it really is good - if you like cookie dough - it's like eating warm peanut butter cookie dough - and it's really a hearty breakfast, too. I just finished trying it - will definitely make this again!

1/2 c. regular oatmeal
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. skim milk
dash salt
1 T. Peanut Butter

Microwave according to directions on oatmeal package (I did mine 6 minutes at 50% power - stirring every 2 minutes).

Prevention suggested adding 1 tsp. brown sugar - I added one packet of Splenda.

I ran this recipe through my calculator using the Peter Pan Whipped PB and it came to 5 points. I also calculated using Jiff Reduced Fat PB and it's 6 points. If you can get Better'n Peanut Butter (Trader Joe's) it comes to 4 points.

I am sure some of you creative cooks can even come up with some neat additions - I am thinking a bit of dried fruit - or maybe a few chocolate chips.

Update 12/31: Today I used Better'N Peanut Butter and 1 Tbsp. DaVinci's Sugar Free Chocolate syrup. Very good and a good way to use up the BPB (which I don't really care for). I did not add the Splenda - the BPB and syrup added just enough "sweetness".

Update 1/1: This morning I added 1 point worth of dried fruit (golden raisins/cherries/cranberries) - had to add a pkg. of Splenda though.

I have made this twice using a whole cup of water - it's "fluffier" this way - not as much like the dough - but if you are a visual eater (like looking at a BIG serving) this is the way to go!

Enjoy!!

Well, I made some of this today...sortof... Had to dig around in the cabinets and see what was available. ^_^'>

1/3 cup instant oatmeal (cinnamon flavour)
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup milk
1 T. Honey Roasted Peter Pan P.B.

It didn't turn out like I expected at all. Granted, I had to substitute a LOT, and that affected things greatly, no doubt. It's not very good with the instant, and I had to let it nuke for quite awhile to get enough water to evaporate out of it. (It was more like soup at first.)

I'll have to get some REAL oatmeal and try this again. ^_^ It wants to be good the way I had to make it, but it's just not quite all that.

This is awesome -- I love peanut butter cookie dough! It's one of the few things on this forum I can make with ingredients available here in China. LOL
